Join us for a spectacular horseback riding adventure in the Cajon del Maipo Valley in the Andes Mountains.
After a two-hour drive from Chile’s capital of Santiago, into the Andes Mountains, we will arrive at a ranch in a small town on the banks of the Maipo River. The ranch has more than 25 years of experience in ecotourism in Chile with 8,000 acres of mountain ranges, valleys, springs, and waterfalls.
You will be guided by “arrieros” (local cowboys) as you take in the stunning vistas and admire the abundant flora and fauna from horseback. You will scale narrow mountain trails and have a short break on a plateau while enjoying the gorgeous surroundings. You may even see some amazing Chilean condors flying high in the sky. The riding time is approximately 2 hours. There is no experience needed for this horseback riding adventure. We use small but robust Chilean “criollo” horses that make everyone feel comfortable.
After horseback riding, you will have time for lunch (not included) followed by a visit to the Concha y Toro Wine Vineyard in the picturesque town of Pirque for a tour and wine tasting.
Internationally-renowned Concha y Toro Vineyard dates back to 1883. The founder was Don Melchor Concha y Toro who brought the first vines from the Bordeaux region in France to Chile that grew prosperously in the Maipo River basin. Walk around the gardens of the summer residence of the Concha y Toro family, discover the variety garden, visit their cellars, and taste a selection of three of their fine wines.
Please note:
(1) The order of activities may vary.
(2) The minimum age for horseback riding is 12 years old. The maximum individual weight is 100 kilos (220 lbs). Please keep in mind that this is a mountain horseback ride. There are segments of the trail that are steep and narrow in both going up and down from the summit. This may be uncomfortable for those who have a fear of heights. If you would prefer a trail that is less steep – but does not reach the summit – please inform your guide. Also, if at any point during the ride you feel uncomfortable, you always have the option to get off the horse and walk down the trail.
(3) Although this is a private tour with your own vehicle and guide, there may be others joining you horseback riding and at the vineyard, which is beyond our control.
