After a two-hour drive from Chile’s capital of Santiago, you will arrive at the village of San Jose de Maipo. Here you will meet your rafting instructors who will provide you with wetsuits, wet shoes, life jackets, rain jackets, and helmets. Lockers are available to secure your belongings while on the rafting experience. Following safety instructions, you will board a van to take you up river to the pull-in point.
Then the adventure begins! You will enjoy a 50-minute continuous succession of whitewater rapids, the longest rafting experience on the Maipo River, with class 3 and 4 rapids depending on the time of year, spectacular scenery of the Andes Mountains, and relentless heart-pumping whitewater. The Maipo River has been consistently ranked one of Chile’s best rafting rivers and is a “must do” activity if you are visiting the Maipo Canyon. For sure one of the most exhilarating activities you will enjoy while visiting Chile, this whitewater rafting adventure delivers an unforgettable journey into Chile’s river wilderness.
Afterwards, you will have time for lunch at La Oveja Negra Restaurant, located on the town’s main plaza, followed by a visit to Cousiño Macul Vineyard for a tour and wine tasting.
Founded in 1856, Cousiño Macul is the only winery in Chile among those established in the 19th century that continues in the hands of the original founding family. The mission of Cousiño Macul is to produce world-class wines that are unmistakably Chilean, carrying the distinctive character of the Maipo Valley.
For those traveling to Chile with a thirst for adventure, this is a tour not to be missed!
